We have just kicked off our 2007-2008 Host Site Recruitment Season!

Our application is now available in Word.  2007-2008 Host Site Application

The 2007-2008 Host Site Application will be due by April 18th. If you would like to attend a workshop about how to complete the application and receive more information about LDSC, please contact Lisa Moore at 225-930-9949 or email lmoore@ladeltacorps.org. A workshop is scheduled for March 30, 2007 at the Louisiana Municipal Building in Baton Rouge from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

We anticipate supporting 45 members this year placing them into 3 regional teams. The North Team consists of the river parishes such as Madison, Concordia and Tensas. The Baton Rouge Team will cover the capital region and the New Orleans team will encompass the North Shore area as well as Orleans and Jefferson Parish.

Host Sites will be selected based on the proposed member project, their geographical location, the need for the project and the level of commitment shown for the member’s personal and professional development. Member projects can be existing or new projects that need help getting them off the ground. They can organize, train, recruit and manage volunteers. They can start tutoring, mentoring or after school programs. Members can assist in recovery and rebuilding efforts. Please keep in mind that members must be in positions that were not previously occupied by a paid person and must be direct service.

Louisiana Delta Service Corps (LDSC) is an AmeriCorps program based in Baton Rouge, LA. LDSC recruits, trains and places corps members of all ages and backgrounds to serve full time (40 hours a week) for 11 months with a school, non-profit or faith-based organization located in the delta region of Louisiana. Corps members expand the capacity of local organizations to meet the needs of children, youth and families by providing community and public safety education, after-school enrichment and mentoring for children, and technological expertise. Corps members also actively recruit volunteers to support their outreach projects during the service year and beyond. Since 1992, LDSC has graduated over 650 corps members who have yearly performed over 100,000 hours of service!

Each year, LDSC recruits interested host agencies that can support the full-time service of a corps member. Hosting agency applications are accepted in the spring of each year. Corps members may apply online and, if accepted, they will be placed with a host agency in their community. LDSC actively solicits applications from prospective corps members both locally and nationwide in an effort to create a truly diverse service team.
